Membership Divisions
The MWRTBA has five (5) classes of membership—Contractor,
Subcontractor, Associate, Affiliate, and Life.
Contractor
Contractor members are firms, partnerships and/or corporations
that are actively engaged in the construction of highways,
streets, roads, bridges, airports, tunnels, and related structures
as prime or subcontractors in Washington, D.C. and the Metropolitan
Washington region.
These members are those that had $5
million or greater in volume sales based on all contracts
awarded by a public or quasi-public agency in the Washington,
D.C. and the Metropolitan Washington region in the previous
calendar year.
This membership category includes full membership
in the American Road & Transportation Builders Association
(ARTBA) as a member of their Contractors Division.
Subcontractor
Subcontractor members are firms, partnerships and/or corporations
that are actively engaged in the construction of highways,
streets, roads, bridges, airports, tunnels, and related structures
as prime or subcontractors in Washington, D.C. and the Metropolitan
Washington region.
These members are those that had less
than $5 million in volume sales based on all contracts
awarded by a public or quasi-public agency in the Washington,
D.C. and the Metropolitan Washington region in the previous
calendar year.
Associate
Associate members are firms, partnerships, and/or corporations
that are actively engaged as suppliers to contractors or subcontractors
in construction activities for highways, streets, roads, bridges,
airports, tunnels, and related structures.
Affiliate
Affiliate members are firms, partnerships, and/or corporations
not actually engaged in transportation construction work,
but whose interests are closely allied with those of Contractor,
Subcontractor, and/or Associate members, or affiliated with
them.
Life
Life members are those individuals who by virtue of specific
action of the MWRTBA Board of Directors are accepted as “Life
Members”.
American
Road & Transportation Builders Association
The American Road & Transportation Builders Association
(ARTBA), which marked its 100th Anniversary in 2002, represents
the U.S. transportation construction industry before Congress,
the Administration, federal courts and agencies, and the media.
ARTBA has more than 5,000 members from across
the country and thirty-three affiliated state chapters. The
industry ARTBA represents generates more than $200 billion
in U.S. economic activity annually and employs 2.5 million
Americans.
The MWRTBA and ARTBA have had a close partnership
for more than fifty years, as the MWRTBA has long been one
of ARTBA’s affiliated state chapters. This partnership
ensures that MWRTBA’s members are represented in Washington,
D.C.— on both the national and local levels.
All MWRTBA Contractor members are automatically
enrolled as full members of ARTBA’s Contractors Division.
Other MWRTBA members have the option of joining ARTBA as a
Contractor Associate member of their Contractors Division.
